Original Lust-Table Furniture Art for Operation Green Leaves Fundraising Effort
Noted New York artist Paulette Lust completed her first piece of furniture art on November 11, 2008.
Responding to a ‘call for artists’ plea from Operation Green Leaves’ executive director Nadine Patrice, Paulette transformed a lovely wooden table into an original painting during a brief business trip to Miami.
Paulette was in Miami for Gallery Walk, November 8th, because she has her work on display at Art Fusion Gallery in the Miami Design District. On Monday, November 10th she drove to the Econo Equipment warehouse and began the painting. She returned on Tuesday, November 11th, to finish. The table will be on display, along with the work of other artists, during Art Basel Miami Beach 2008 as part of an Environmental Art Display in the Miami Mid-Century Gallery in the Wynwood Art District of Miami.
She calls her art primitive, because it’s spontaneous – not overworked, the first lines are always her best. You will love to live with her art. Ms. Lust’s unique style, contemporary-primitive, has earned her critical acclaim and an ever-increasing following among collectors. After working in many mediums, including oil and watercolor, she became fascinated by the ancient technique of painting on silk. Her original silk paintings have been exhibited successfully in one-woman art shows in galleries domestically and internationally.
Paulette Lust’s inspirations come from her extensive travels. Born in Lvov, Russia, she lived and traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East before settling in New York. Speaking four languages by the age of 12, Ms. Lust began her formal studies in art while studying at The University of Texas in San Antonio. She resides in Manhattan with family.
The goal of the Artoire Project is to sell the furniture and use the proceeds to plant trees in Haiti. Check out the Operation Green Leaves’ website for more information and pictures: www.oglhaiti.com.
